True, electric cars don't produce CO2. They let a power plant do that for them. And in the US most of that power is made by coal or some other fossil fuel. Also, the energy losses suffered from the generating plant through the charger and to the car requires that more CO2 be emitted than if the car just used gasoline.
Alternatives? Wind and solar power and biofuels won't put a small dent in the power needed for transportation.
So, for now, electric cars are toys for the rich elite.

The cars themselves don't produce CO2.

Over and over we hear that the electric car will not produce greenhouse gases. BUNK!
The electricity to power the chargers for the batteries is created with fossil fule, mostly coal. Coal = CO2 in the air.
The only viable way to produce electricity without CO2 emission is with nuclear power.
BTW, France is producing ~80% of their electricity with nuclear. Why haven't they marketed an electric car. Maybe the answer is simple: Electric cars are not practical yet.

a problem about this car it is was more expensive then a car that uses gas so more people with buy cars that use gas cuzz they cost less

For one of the first cars of it's kind, where everything had to be from scratch, I'd say it's doing pretty good. Do you think that gasoline cars were all durable and fast right from the start?
Call me an optimist, but I give the gasoline car 20 years, before electric cars surpass them in sales, and 30 years, before 95% of the street vehicles are clean, quick and quiet electric-powered ones.

NO they do mess up alot watch the top gear test they broke 2 of them, and with a top speed of 125 its preety crap tbh
clerlic (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I don't think it does that, they provide a 3year/36000 mile warranty. They'd go broke if that happened.
Electric vehicles are the future.

I heard a couple of thousands. But by the time it happens, I bet there'll be cheaper and more efficient battery packs around.

None if you use renewables or nuclear.
