I'm with betsug1. I ride with split reins all the time other than when doing speed events. I think that anyone who is calling her stupid really has no idea what they are talking about. I have never dropped my reins when training or riding my horses and again I agree with betsug1 to each there own. This is the only video I have seen of this lady and have no idea who she is but while I doubt she uses split reins when actually racing it is up to her what type of reins she uses. So theres my cent.

You people going on about the split reins make me laugh. I run with them all the time at home. Yes at shows I use different reins because I have a different headstall and set for the shows. If you acutally know how to ride, its safe. But to each his own.

in her defense doing slow work with split reins is OK. however to do an actual competitive run you dont use them.

I think that riding with split reins during SLOW WORK is fine. During a run, umm no way!

I personally ride with split reins only in western competitions like pro western pleasure, or things like that. Always(my advice) ride with attatched reins when racing like pole bending or barrel racing since they tend to be safer incase you lose your grip. With split reins they could fall and make you horse tumble, dangerous things after that happen.Riding with attatched reins ensures safety
