ya i know the production cost of a one of these baddies is only about $1700, I think right now mitubishi is just trying to see how high of a price they can get away with, i got to see inside one of these and basically all it is 3 small lasers for red blue and green with a thin screen and casing around it, prices will come down probably by around 2010.

Yeah well good to know the laser technology is much cheaper because of the low number of components (lcds, oleds and plasmas are full of electronic crap here and there.. with laser tv you have just a few emitters and control electroncis and that's it) and the overall low difficulty of puttign it together. Thanks Mitsubishi for 7000 for a thing that should cost like 900$ ;) I really now hope you'll fail and will have to put it off the market soon ;)

looks like some kind of night club ad

The competition in general (not just large screens) from Plasma, OLED, LCD and economic crisis of USA (too much consumption, lack of production...money printing) will cause poor sales and the other companies will eventually create their own laser tvs cheaper than mitsubishi. The business plan that Mitsubishi created for this technology will in my opinion fail in these large screens to dissapear soon for a certain time. But we'll see...

I saw this thing in person omg it looks fucking amazing! even better then the Pioneer kuro elite for P.Q. IMO I'd say it's with the RRP of $6,999, to bad I can't afford one of these beasts =( And it ain't too badly priced against plasma's and lcd's of today either, the only equivalent tv is the Pioneer kuro elite pro-151fd(60 inches) and it's suggested retail price is $6500!

It's GREAT for gaming! No color burns. The technology is not dangerous to consumers, but I cannot speak for any particular individual on whether or not it will give anyone a headache, but it does not have any "reputation" for causing headaches. I've had a rear-projection TV and it personally never gave me a headache.

yehh thats annoying.. soo is it a good tv for gaming? no color burns or fades? does it damage ur eyes or gives u headaches like the rear projection tvs?

Everyone, also note that in terms of energy consumption, it is one of the "greenest" TVs for it's screen size. A typical 60-65" Plasma will use about 500-600 Watts (gulp) - the 65" LaserVue uses ONLY 135 Watts during operation! This television costs much less to operate than anything else around this screen size. If you are looking at the top-of-the-line flat panel, LaserVue is a much better, more environmentally-friendly choice, in terms of energy use.
